Is treatment with CAMS model compatible with the SafeSide Framework?

Yes. The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) is an evidence-based treatment for suicide ideation developed by Dr. David Jobes. SafeSide and CAMS share philosophical and clinical commitment to a narrative and collaborative process, and staff trained in CAMS will find themselves on familiar territory with the recovery-oriented SafeSide Framework

CAMS and other evidence-based psychotherapies fall under "Treatments and Mini-interventions," which is the first category in the RESPOND task of the SafeSide framework. "Treatments and Mini-Interventions" refers to offering, when possible, suicide-specific evidence-based treatments like CAMS. The SafeSide InPlace® Workshop specifically lists CAMS as one of the treatments we recommend for addressing drivers of suicide risk. Mini-interventions are tactics, phrases, and techniques drawn from manualized, evidence-based treatment, but applied in the course of interactions staff in a variety of roles may have with those you serve.

If your organization currently provides CAMS treatment, SafeSide can assist you in defining and communicating about the complementary fit between CAMS and the SafeSide Framework.
